Right now there are 5 varieties.

Small Slimes
O-Slimes are hostile O-Mobs.
They will spawn at any level, providing there is enough darkness.
Also, two will be created every time a O-Large Slime is killed.
As of Patch 1.0.4, Purple slimes were added to the game.

Dynaslime
Dynaslimes are a mob found deep underground.
When killed they explode. These explosions can knock torches off walls, destroy trees, destroy soft blocks (cloth), and of course harm Jack.

Mother Dynaslime
Mother Dynaslimes are a mob introduced v1.0.5
When you kill them, they explode like a O-Small Bomb.
These explosions can knock torches off walls, destroy trees and other weaker blocks, and, of course, harm Jack.
For $0.99 you can wear him on your head! This occasionally drops gun powder.
